ENCLOSURES

FURTHER ACTION

Dear Mr. Cox,

Since my letter at the 5th July I have been thinking again about the question or printing the *.K.M.A.C.' Report and now wonder whether it shoul not be printed and published as a

Hon-Parliementory Paper. As you know there has neen a good deal of outside interest in the future of the University but I am not sure if you sow G letter from Mr. alter letcher, .. to

Kr. Creech Jones of the 31st January or of the reply which was sent to him. In case not I enclose copies. I understand too that there ure pther 1.7.8 who ezc interested in Hong Kong University and it may be therefore that there would be þdvantages in having it printed se a N.?

On the other hand it may be that undue Publicity to a proposal that the University should be rehabilitated "as an instrument of British policy in the Far East" would defeat the object. In any case it would of course be necessary to consider, in consultation with the Foreign Office, hether any part or the Report should be cut out il it were to be published. In that case I suppose confidential supplementary Report could be put in at the same time.

These are only idess but you may think it is a matter which should be touched on at the next meeting.

To

C.

COX,
